Job Summary
Mainframe z/OS support Responsibilities:
System Administration:
Install, configure, and maintain z/OS systems and subsystems.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot any issues.
Manage system resources such as memory, storage, and CPU utilization.
Perform backups and recoveries as needed.
RACF Administration:
Define and manage user profiles, groups, and permissions in RACF.
Implement security best practices to protect z/OS resources.
Audit and monitor security activity within the z/OS environment.
Stay up-to-date on the latest RACF security updates and vulnerabilities.
Automation:
Develop and implement automation scripts to automate routine z/OS tasks.
Utilize tools like JCL, REXX, or shell scripts to streamline processes.
Work with developers to integrate automation with existing applications.
Problem Resolution:
Diagnose and troubleshoot problems related to z/OS systems, RACF, and automation.
Work effectively with other IT teams to resolve complex issues.
Document solutions and implement preventative measures to avoid future issues.
Reporting:
Generate reports on system performance, resource utilization, and security activity.
Analyze reports and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience administering z/OS systems
Strong understanding of z/OS concepts, including JCL, ISPF, and system utilities
Proven experience with RACF administration and security best practices
Experience with automation scripting languages like JCL, REXX, or shell scripting
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills:
Experience with z/OS workload automation tools
Knowledge of z/OS security best practices
