Job Title: NOC Monitoring Specialist
Job Summary:
The NOC Monitoring Specialist is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and maintaining the health and performance of an organization's IT systems and networks. This role involves proactive monitoring, incident detection, and resolution to ensure uninterrupted and efficient operation of IT services.
Responsibilities:
Real-Time Monitoring:
Utilize monitoring tools to observe the organization's IT infrastructure in real-time.
Monitor network traffic, server health, and application performance.
Identify and respond to alerts and incidents promptly.
Incident Detection and Resolution:
Detect and investigate incidents that may impact the availability or performance of IT services.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
Escalate incidents to higher-level support or relevant teams when necessary.
Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of incidents, resolutions, and monitoring procedures.
Document troubleshooting steps and create knowledge base articles for recurring issues.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with other IT teams, including network engineers, system administrators, and security personnel, to resolve complex issues.
Participate in regular meetings to discuss ongoing incidents and improvements.
Performance Analysis:
Analyze trends in system and network performance data to proactively address potential issues.
Provide recommendations for improvements to prevent recurring incidents.
Reporting:
Generate and present reports on system and network performance.
Communicate key performance indicators and metrics to relevant stakeholders.
24/7 Monitoring:
Participate in a rotating shift schedule to provide 24/7 monitoring coverage.
Be available for on-call duties to address critical incidents during off-hours.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
Proven experience in a NOC or similar monitoring role.
Familiarity with various monitoring tools and technologies.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of network protocols, server technologies, and IT infrastructure.
Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, SolarWinds, or similar.
Communication Skills:
Excellent communication skills to interact with team members and stakeholders effectively.
Ability to articulate technical information to non-technical audiences.
Problem-Solving:
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
