We are seeking an experienced “DB2 LUW Subject Matter Expert” to join our IT department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of DB2 LUW database systems on “Linux, Unix, and Windows” platforms. You will ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the information systems that support core organizational functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Management: Design, configure, and manage DB2 LUW databases across multiple environments with a focus on Linux, Unix, and Windows platforms.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize database performance using advanced tuning and troubleshooting techniques, including bufferpool, memory management, and query optimization.
- Data Security: Implement and maintain database security strategies, including role-based access control, encryption, and data masking.
- Disaster Recovery: Develop and test backup and recovery plans using native DB2 LUW tools and third-party solutions. Ensure data integrity and availability using high availability features such as HADR and replication technologies.
- Capacity Planning: Assess and plan for future database capacity and performance requirements based on business needs.
- Technical Support: Provide high-level technical support for DB2 LUW databases, resolving complex issues and optimizing performance.
- Consultation: Act as a consultant to IT project teams and propose DB2 LUW data solutions that align with organizational goals and infrastructure.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation for database deployments, configurations, and performance tuning processes.
- Training: Educate and train staff on DB2 LUW best practices and solutions, including backup/recovery, monitoring, and performance optimization.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience with DB2 LUW platforms.
- Advanced knowledge in DB2 LUW database administration, including performance tuning, query optimization, and backup/recovery strategies.
- Strong understanding of DB2 LUW internal structures (e.g., bufferpools, tablespaces, page structures) and database monitoring tools like IBM Data Studio, db2pd, and db2diag.
- Experience with HADR (High Availability Disaster Recovery), replication, and other high-availability configurations.
Preferred Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with automation and scripting (Shell, Python, Perl) for database administration tasks.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with IT teams and senior management.
Certifications:
- IBM Certified Database Administrator - DB2 LUW certification is highly preferred.
